re: NEW tour dates ANNOUNCED!

Yeah I know, I know, we are supposed to wait for the official anouncement. But, besides the fact that the HOB in Chicago is sending out e-mails to people, and that the tickets went on sale today, there was also a line in one of the major newspapers here in the city about the 10-12-06 show. Would any...

Re: re: NEW tour dates ANNOUNCED!

Frank is scheduled to play at House of Blues in Chicago as well, per the House of Blues website. Hopefully we will see other dates soon posted on this site! I will wait for the "official" confirmation here at the website, but that is good news indeed if Frank does play at the HOB here in ...

re: Maxoom, Child of the Novelty & Strange Universe rema

I have the Axe Killer remaster of "Live". Judging by the liner notes which include quotes by Frank and even a mention of this website (when it was www.wildwilly.com/marino1) I would say it is legit. And the sound quality is fantastic. This is the version to get of the great "Mahogany ...

re: Maxoom, Child of the Novelty & Strange Universe rema

This I can't wait for. Strange Universe is my favorite album . Child Of The Novelty was the first thing I ever heard by Mahogany Rush, and I was hooked forever. That was in 1974 when it was first released in the USA. I heard Maxoom last of these three, and always loved it also. I am very partial to ...

Re: re: A bit of an update.

Remastering three of my favorite lp's/cd's of all time? Be careful, don't listen to the experts. They tend to screw things up, lol. I agree with Jim on these three albums. I was turned on to Frank when Child of the Novelty was brand new. So this time period was when I was forever hooked. I can not ...

Re: re: Frank Marino Tribute "Secondhand Smoke" RE

I know what reed instruments are, ok. If it's a clairinet, then list it as a clarinet. My point is the song is cranking. When the "reed" thing comes on it just drops all momentum. It is short, but the song lost it's drive after that. And it does not sound like a live instrument. It sounds...

Re: re: Frank Marino Tribute "Secondhand Smoke" RE

[quote="JaminJim"] [ Rick Schulz sounds like he must be an accomplished talented musician and does great on the “Reeds.” I’m not a fan of imitation instruments. If you wanted a sax, get a sax. Is it not supposed to sound like a sax? Then get something else. FYI, "Reeds" are not a...

re: Frank Marino Tribute "Secondhand Smoke" REVIEW

I have to chime in again on the Tribute cd. I am listening to it for the second time now (as I write this) and it is so cool to hear these other guitar players play Frank's songs. Every single song is great, I am not kidding. And it makes you realize just how distinct Frank's style is. First of all ...
