Man,I hate to hear that about Eric,a fellow Memphian (as the late Shawn Lane was also) .Eric was a really talented promising guitarist who just can't keep it together. That's real disappointing news ,both for the project & Eric

Don't get me wrong, I'm very impressed with the list of players on the CD, but here's a question: why didn't Marty Friedman and/or Zakk Wylde contribute anyhing to the tribute album? Also, I saw on some unofficial Yngwie site that he was going to do something... what went wrong?

Many of you know that I am dedicating the tribute album to the late Shawn Lane. He was a huge Frank Marino fan and passed away before recording his track. Here is a video of him playing that is absolutly amazing. His style is more progressive, but he could play the blues-rock damn good as well. Check it out. Video is focused mostly on his fret hand...awesome. :clap

Marty was set on doing "World Anthem" only and it was taken. The only other tune he wanted was on one of the first 3 records which weren't being covered for reasons I will not get into.

Zakk's manager stepped in and didn't want him on a tribute. Maybe he was covering for Zakk, I don't know, but I personally spoke with Zakk and he was all for doing "Ain't Dead Yet" when he returned from England after Ozzy's accident. I gave up chasinghim down personally again, but his road manager gave me what I believe is the true story.

Yngwie and I spoke about 3 or 4 times and I even sent him the lyrics to "Strange Dreams" which he wanted to cover. The final response I got from him is that he just didn't have thje time since he was touring. I have to believe them, especially since they could have said no from the get-go.

It is not easy doing something like this especially since I am not a record person. Frank's name carried a lot of weight and respect. The cd is great and of course I wished everyone could/would have done it. It was not from the lack of effort.
